Judging:  exercise ballet 1b

Now let's go and compare the scores you gave with the judges at the actual competition. Remember: as a judge you only get one look at a trick, so it's normal to judge a little different when you can rewind and see the trick a couple of times.

540   one judge gave AVERAGE, the two others gave GOOD.

The rotation isn't full, therefor the OUT isn't what it should be. AVERAGE is a bit low, but it's not a high GOOD.

Backspins  one judge gave AVERAGE, the two others gave GOOD.

The kite drifts sideways during the trick, the OUT is not 100%, but he did 5 rotations. AVERAGE or low GOOD.

Slotmachine   one judge gave BAD, the two others gave AVERAGE.

The rotation is not flat and not full, the OUT is a bit off and not straight. BAD is too low, but it is a low AVERAGE.

Multilazy  two times AVERAGE, once GOOD

It takes some time to get the kite deep on it's back, the rotations are not at the same speed. The OUT is good. High AVERAGE is correct. GOOD is maybe a bit too high.

Lewis   3 times BAD

The kite gets stuck in the last part of the Yoyo. There is no Lewis, so this is BAD.

Multilazy   3 times BAD

The attempt is there, but that's all of it. BAD.

Backspins  3 times BAD

There is one rotation, then the kite drops out. BAD.

Lewis  2 times GOOD, one EXCELLENT

The Lewis is nice, a little pause to get the kite into the backflip. It is indeed somewhere between high GOOD and low EXCELLENT.

Jacobs Ladder 1 AVERAGE, 2 times GOOD.

Besides drifting sideways, this is 3 times at the same speed and the OUT is nice straight up. Rather GOOD.

The artistic part had 11 on average  (range from 9 to 16)

Each judge has an own taste of what is artistic and what is connected with the music. In this ballet, part from the intro, not much is really onto the music but the style of flying does go well with this harder kind of music. 16 is a bit high, if you ask me, but the 11 on average marks it well. 

The technical part had 8 on average  (range from 3 to 14)

 Where the 3 comes from, I don't know. But I think 8 average is too low for this ballet. The tricks are not the easiest ones, there are fragments from cascades in between. Let's say 10 average would be correct.

Now we are going to judge the same tricks, but as imposed tricks. Now you can see a trick once and pause the video. Take note of your score from 1 to 10. You can write them on the same piece of paper you just used for the ballet  :-)
